  1. I love the top photo! And may I just say I have a bit of camera envy? Yeah, I have a 6.0 megapixel point-n-shoot camera that I take my (poor) pictures with. Ahhhh to have a DSLR. Particularly the Olympus Evolt E510... sorry, I ramble.

  2. Hi, thanks for the comment!
    Thank you. :)
If you had assumed the camera I'm using in my profile pic is mine, you would have been mistaken; that one is my grandfather's that I used for a week. I took a photo of my camera with the one I was shooting with at the time, the Canon EOS 5D MkII. Here's my Canon EOS Rebel XS with the EF-S 10-22mm on it (which I shot my profile pic with):

What, you only want an Olympus and not a Hasselblad, Mamiya, etc.? ;-)

In case you were wondering, I took these photos with my iPhone 3Gs and edited them using the Instagram app, hence the title. If I'd taken a photo of the Cadillac CTS-V with my DSLR instead, the quality would doubtless be much better.

If you would like any DSLR and lens buying advice, I'd be glad to try to help. :)

  3. I did think the camera in the picture was yours, but I'm still envious of the Canon Rebel. I originally wanted the Canon Rebel T2i EF-S, but it's not in my price range. The Olympus I'm looking at is closer to my price range (which is about $500). Do you have any suggestions as to a good camera for that price? I did find out that the Olympus preforms well, but I'm new to buying DSLR camera's and my Grandfather who was helping me died last year, so I'm on my own. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for offering.

Oh yes, only an Olympus! I'm a girl of simple taste! ;)

  4. My generous grandfather has helped me with phoography stuff quite a bit; he got me the 10-22mm and more recently, a bag and 35mm lens as well.
I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather's death; that must have been a difficult time for you and your family.

There are lots of options if you have around $500 to spend on a DSLR body and lenses, but first, are you only interested in getting a new camera, or will a used one be ok? I have a bunch of places to look and various tips regardless of your answer, but I'm going to wait die your reply before giving time because it takes a long time to write on an iPhone and I'm going to get ready for bed now.
